A personal thing..

The trick is persistence. I recently heard a story, or should we say saga of getting everyone to send in photos to make a Baublet bracelet for one very lucky grandma for mothers day. It started with a browse across the Internet.. And the discovery of a product, Baublet..
Once the product was found the cattle prods where pulled out and the bracelet started to take shape. It is important to have one sibling in charge of getting everyone to send in their pictures.. Even if it takes multiple calls and a good deal of harassment..

Play date, dinner date!

One thing we just love out here is to create an atmosphere that brings people together. The play date dinner date, is an opportunity to get some fun happening with the kids and parents alike!
We find that it is good to set up Saturday events early on the calendar, and then touch base with our guests closer to the date, usually with just a quick text message.. I recently found these cute “cards” that I like to use as a little quick day of the event message bearer..

We still have to run some errands for tonight’s date, but before we get going I am going to mix together a batch of foccocia. One of the must knows about making bread is the longer it sits around the more flavor it will tend to have. When I pull it out of the oven after guests arrive.. It will have filled the entire house with the smell of it’s yummy goodness..

Around here we love tomatoes

Snack attack, we just love home grown cherry tomatoes. Now is definitely the time of year to get those yummy tomatoes in the ground. Keep in mind little dog farms of Chico CA. Will be at the Saturday’s farmers market until they sell out. The farms boasts a very interesting collection of tomatoes.. All plants are organic and heirloom varieties. Growing your own can be very economical as well.. If your not in Chico, try your own farmers market before going to the big box store. Buying small and local equals better..

Bee theme for a kids birthday party

There is no real reason kids parties have to come out a box, or be impossibly boring for everyone who attends. Try a party theme that captures you child’s real interest.. This may take a little while to come up with. This party is featuring the humble hardworking bee.

The Bee cake, was admittedly home made, but the party favors were courtesy of Baublet.com who created custom charms featuring a bee design for each of the young party goers.
The little Baublets were attached to string closures on marble bags..

Let them eat pizza..

Homemade pizza can be a plus at any playdate, mostly because the kids have a certain amount of buy in on the process.. Kids love to eat what they make… And it gives them control over the toppings that they want to try.. And one thing is for sure they are going to be more apt to branch out their taste in pizza when there are some fabulous vegetables to go along..

1.5 cups flour
1 tsp each salt sugar and yeast
2/3 cup warm water
olive oil (to texture)

Mix and keep in the refrigerator (covered) until needed, will save nicely for several days (and taste better to boot)

Toppings can be anything! I like to raid the garden in the summer..
Or just use some leftover, chicken or whatever is available..

Entertaining with the wine tower

Have a wine party!
Guests can be asked to bring a specific variety.. This year we went with blends.. They tine tasting at an event like this can be really fun.. As well, the hosts are not over burdened with the price of purchasing a large quantity of wine. Guests at this years party were treated to personalized wine charms made by Baublet.com, each charm has a photo sealed in it.. It was a pleasant touch to an already pleasant affair
